Defination of past perfect tense & their uses in Assamese & English language.

** ( Past Perfect Tense)( পূৰ্ন অতীতকাল)

সংজ্ঞা:- অতীতত এইমাত্ৰ কাম শেষ হোৱা বুজোৱাকে Past perfect Tense বুলি কোৱা হয়। (Any work that has just been completed in the past is called Past Perfect Tense.)
Structure:-
S + had + V₃ + O
Conjugation of the Verb take to ' Play '
যেনে:- I had played football.
We had played football.
You had played football.
He/She/it had football.
They had played football.

** Past perfect tense ৰ ব্যৱহাৰ:-( Use of past tense.)
1) অতীতত সম্পন্ন হোৱা দুটা ক্ৰিয়াৰ কাল বুজাবলৈ আগত শেষ হোৱাটোৰ ক্ষেত্ৰত Past perfect আৰু পিছত হোৱাটোৰ ক্ষেত্ৰত simple past tense হয়।(Past perfect in case of end before to explain the period of two actions that have been done in the past and a sample past tense in case of later.)
অৰ্থাৎ, i.e
Past perfect + before + Past Indefinite.
Past Indefinite + after + Past perfect tense.
যেনে:-1) মই আহি পোৱাৰ আগতেই তেওঁ গুছি গৈছিল।
=> He had left before I came.
2) তেওঁ গুছি যোৱাৰ পিছত মই আহিছিলো।
=> I came after he had left.
3) ডাক্তৰ আহি পোৱাৰ আগতেই ৰোগীজনৰ মৃত্যু হৈছিল।
=> The patient had died before the doctor came.
4) ৰোগীজনৰ মৃত্যু হোৱাৰ পিছত ডাক্তৰজন আহিছিল।
=> The doctor came after the patient had died.
5) মই আহিছিলো ৯ বজাত । সি গুছি গৈছিল ৮ বজাত। গতিকে তাক মই লগ নাপালো।
=> I came at 9. He had left at 8.So, I did not meet him.
6) মই তেওঁতকৈ বহু আগতেই বি.এ.পাছ কৰিছিলো।
=> I had passed B.A much before him.
7) তেওঁ যোৱাবছৰো আহিছিল।
=> He had come last year also.
8) মই ইতিমধ্যে কামটো শেষ কৰিছিলো।
=> I had already finishing the work.
9) সি ৯ বজাৰ আগতে আহি পাইছিল।
=> He had arrived before 9.
10) মই ষ্টেচন পোৱাৰ আগতে ৰেলখন এৰিলে।
=> The train had left before I reached the station.
11) তেওঁ ষ্টেচন পোৱাৰ পাছত ৰেলখন এৰিলে।
=> The train left after he had reached the station.
12) তেওঁ কৈছিল যে তেওঁ হেনো তাজমহল দেখিছে।
=> He told that he had seen the Taj-mahal.
13) তেওঁ টকাখিনি গনি একাষত থৈ দিলে।
=> He had counted the money and kept it aside.
14) আন্ধাৰ হোৱাৰ আগেয়ে আমি ঘৰ পালো।
=> We had reached home before it was dark.
15) চোৰ যোৱাৰ পিছত পুলিচ আছিল।
=> The police came after the thief had left.
16) মই অহাৰ আগেয়ে তেওঁ ওলাই গ'ল।
=> He had gone out before I came.
17) আমি খাই উঠাৰ পিছতে আলহীজন আহিল।
=> The guest arrived after we had taken our meal.
18) বৰষুণ দিয়াৰ আগতে সিঁহতে ওলাই গ'ল।
=>They had gone out before it began to rain.
19) মই যোৱাৰ পাছত তেওঁ আহিছিল।
=> He came after I had gone out.
20) সিহঁতে আহি পোৱাৰ আগতে আমি গুচি গলোঁ ।
=> We had left before they came.
21) অফিচৰ আহি পোৱাৰ পিছত মই কামটো কৰিলো।
=> I did the work after I had come back from office.
22) হাত-মুখ ধোৱাৰ পাছত আমি ফুৰিবলৈ গলোঁ।
=> After we had washed up we went out for a walk.
23) বৃটিছবিলাক অহাৰ আগতে মোগলে ভাৰতবৰ্ষ শাসন কৰিছিল।
=> The mughal Emperors had ruled India before the British came.
24) তেওঁলোক গৈ ষ্টেচন পোৱাৰ আগতে ৰেলখন এৰিলে।
=> The train had left before they reaches the station.
25) পৰীক্ষাৰ ফলাফল পোৱাৰ আগতে তেওঁ গুৱাহাটীলৈ গ'ল।
=> He had gone to Guwahati before he got the examination result.
26) তাই যেতিয়া ঘূৰি আহিল,তেতিয়া তেওঁলোক গলেই।
=> They had left when she returned.
** অতীতত হোৱা কোনো ঘটনা সম্বন্ধে অবাস্তৱ, কল্পনা, অনুমান বা উপলব্ধি বুজাবলৈ past perfect Tense ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়।( Past perfect tense is used to explain unreality, imagination, assumptions, or perceptions about an event that has happened in the past.)
যেনে:- 1) যদিও তেওঁ মোক নিমন্ত্ৰণ কৰিছিল, মই যাব নোৱাৰিলো।
=> Though he had invited me, I could not go .
2) যদি মই এইটো কৰিলেহেতেন মই জিকিলোহেতেন।
=> If I had done this, I should have won.
3) মই তোমাক থিয়েটাৰ হ'লত লগ কৰিছিলো বুলি মই কামনা কৰিছো।
=> I wish, I had met you at the theater hall.
4) যদি মই খালে মই মৰাৰ উচিত আছিল।
=> If I have eaten I should have died.
5) মই তেওঁক সহায় কৰিছিলো বুলি মই কামনা কৰিছো ।
=> I wish I had helped him.
** বৰ্ননা কৰোঁতে যদি ঘটনাবোৰ কোনটোৰ পিছত কোনটো ঘটিছে সি এনেয়ে প্ৰকাশ পায়। অৰ্থাৎ ( Sequence of events) আৰু অৰ্থ যদি স্পষ্ট হৈ থাকে তেনেহলে Past Perfect ব্যৱহাৰ নকৰিলেও হয়।(This is what happens if the events are followed by this when we are not. That is, if the sense of events and meaning is clear, it is not even if past perfect is not used.)
যেনে:- 1) তেওঁ মোক দেখি পোৱাৰ আগতে মই তেওঁক দেখিছিলো।
=> I saw him before he saw me.
2) তেওঁ খিৰিকিখন খোলাৰ আগতে তেওঁ বিচনাৰ ভিতৰলৈ পাইছিল।
=> He opened the window before he got into bed.
